The 2014 Boston Shakespeare Sonnet-thon Was Great!
The Annual Boston Shakespeare Sonnet-thon, a public event free and open to all, returned to the Boston Public Library in Copley Square on April 7, 2014.
Hosted by Shakespeare Now! Theatre Company, this event, called "Boston's most important theater
event of the year," drew more than 100 poetry lovers and Bard aficionados who read, recited, sang, acted, and otherwise presented all 154 of
Shakespeare's Sonnets in chronological order.
Jonathan
Epstein, renowned Shakespearean actor, director, teacher, and lecturer, once again served as Sonnet-Master. Jonny's
erudite and witty hosting always assures an
unforgettable evening of Shakespearean fun and celebration.
Our goal is to have each Sonnet read or otherwise performed
by a different speaker. Sonnets have been signed (ASL), sung, danced
to….the possibilities are limitless! The Sonnet does not need to be memorized.
Participants include people of all ages from ALL walks of
life.
This unique cultural event, held in one of the great public
libraries of the USA, is a community celebration of the works of the world's
greatest playwright and poet.
